Alex is a State of Connecticut licensed Hairdresser/Cosmetician since 1991. She is a well rounded cosmetician that has branched out to all things beauty with no limitations. Her work experience had its humble beginnings at Supercuts in Westport where she worked as a stylist. After years of working at a couple of prestigious Westport salons, she then went on to own and operate a very successful mobile hair business, servicing all of Fairfield County. Alex also went on to gain experience in makeup application by managing a Prescriptives counter, as well as freelancing as a makeup artist for Estee Lauder. Alex's skincare experience came from her work as a skincare consultant for three very prestigious cosmetic pharmaceutical companies, Vichy, LaRoche Posay & Lierac. Alex has expanded her knowledge not only in woman's skin care, but in men's skin care as well, with her freelance work for Anthony Brand, a men's skincare & shaving company. Alex also went on to help her daughter achieve her dreams in the makeup & spray tan business as she expanded her knowledge in airbrush tanning techniques. Even with her busy schedule Alex is passionate about giving back to the community. She had dedicated one day a week giving quality haircuts to seniors at our local nursing home. She founded "The Sisterhood of Small Business Owners", a FB support group for women in small business. She is also the driving force behind the group "The Business Owners of Black Rock", a small business owners support group for the Black Rock area, that she encouraged her daughter to spearhead. Her life motto, work hard, give back, but don't forget to enjoy life!
Alex's pride & joy, other than her two children of course, is her Black Rock Barber & Beauty studio. Established in January of 2016 & located in the heart of Historic Black Rock. Just a walk from St. Mary's by the sea, & other eclectic & charming shops that adorn Fairfield Avenue, including her daughter's Sun Kissed Glow. A single chair, crisp white, with a hue of grey, accented with royal blue, brings back the Greek Isle nostalgia where Alex is from. "We are laid back, comfortable & informal. We offer a one on one service, & all the attention is on you! We also offer a customizable a la carte menu to suit everyone's needs & budget. We listen carefully & give advise. However at the end of the day, advise is just that, our clients satisfaction is our number one priority! We plan our time accordingly, so that you are walking into a clean & disinfected space with no wait time. We only ask that you respect our time in the same way we respect yours. Coffee, tea, a glass of beer or a glass of wine, sit back, relax & leave your worries at the door.
Do to unforeseen circumstances, we had to unfortunately close down our single chair studio, at 3142 Fairfield Ave in Bridgeport. We are now off to bigger & better, as we join forces with Sun Kissed Glow, conveniently offering one stop beauty services. Everything from a simple haircut, to blowouts & make-up applications for your special occasion, to an array of color services, to teeth whitening & airbrush tans, to facial waxing. It's all happening under one roof, & all of our services are of course unisex. We will continue to give our clients one on one attention & the customer service they deserve! So come on down & visit us at our beautiful new location at 3064 Fairfield Ave in Bridgeport, just one block north of our previous location, same hand side, next door to BRYAC.
